How it works
1. Six gentle questions
Due date, ZIP or state, feeding plan, laundry rhythm, home and budget. One question per screen.
2. Exact quantities, with the why
Every number shows its math, like "laundry every 3 days × 2 a day + 2 spares = 8".
3. A week-by-week plan
Essentials first, big purchases spread out, car seat checked and hospital bag packed by week 36.
A real plan for a sample family
Sample The Rivera family: first baby due Jan 20 in Illinois (cold north), breastfeeding, laundry every 3 days, apartment, standard budget, partner and grandparents helping. Fictional family, real engine output.
Their first year, by size
| Size | Months | Weather |
|---|---|---|
| NB | Jan | cold |
| 0–3m | Jan–Mar | cold |
| 3–6m | Apr–Jun | warm to cool |
| 6–9m | Jul–Sep | warm to mild |
| 9–12m | Oct–Dec | cool to cold |
Clothes before birth
| Item | Size | Qty |
|---|---|---|
| Bodysuits | NB | 4 |
| Bodysuits | 0–3m | 8 |
| Zip sleepers / footies | NB | 3 |
| Zip sleepers / footies | 0–3m | 5 |
| Pants / leggings | NB | 2 |
| Pants / leggings | 0–3m | 3 |
| Cardigans / light jackets | NB | 2 |
| Cardigans / light jackets | 0–3m | 2 |
Why 8 bodysuits in 0–3m? Laundry every 3 days × 2 a day + 2 spares = 8. 8 long-sleeve + 0 short-sleeve (Jan–Mar is cold in your climate).

What do I actually need for a newborn?
Fewer things than most registry lists suggest. The true must-haves are a safe sleep space (crib or bassinet with a firm, flat mattress and fitted sheets), an infant car seat, diapers and wipes, a handful of clothes in newborn and 0–3 month sizes, feeding supplies that match your plan, and a few health basics like a thermometer. NestReady sizes each of those to your laundry routine, season and household.
How does NestReady calculate quantities?
With simple, visible rules. For example, bodysuits = days between laundry × 2 a day + spares, so a family that washes every 3 days with a standard budget needs 8 in 0–3 months. Every item shows its own math, so you can adjust with confidence.
Why does my due date matter so much?
It decides the weather for each clothing size. A January baby in Chicago needs long sleeves, a warm bunting and warmer sleep sacks for the first months; a July baby in Houston needs short sleeves, a sun hat and the lightest sleep sacks, and can skip the snowsuit.
When should I start buying baby stuff?
Many families start around the middle of pregnancy. NestReady starts your plan no earlier than week 20 and spreads purchases so big items arrive early, the car seat is installed and checked by week 36 and the hospital bag is packed by week 36.
How many newborn-size clothes should I buy?
Only a few. Many babies outgrow newborn size within weeks and some skip it, so NestReady halves the newborn quantity and puts the rest in 0–3 months. Twins keep full newborn quantities because they are often born smaller.
What is free and what does the US$ 9 unlock?
Free: the short setup and your "Must before birth" list for the next 4 weeks, with exact quantities. One payment of US$ 9 unlocks everything for that baby, forever: the full list in all sizes up to 12 months, the week-by-week plan, budget, sharing, the gift list and the hospital bag checklist. No subscription.
Can grandparents and friends use the list?
Yes. Invite your partner to view and edit, invite grandparents and family to view and reserve, and share a public gift list that guests can open without an account to reserve an item. Reservations prevent double gifts.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No. We store only what you enter and your Google name and email. There are no ads and no data sales. You can delete your account and everything in it anytime.
Is this medical advice?
No. NestReady is a shopping and planning tool. Safety notes follow plain, widely accepted guidance (for example, a firm, flat sleep surface and a rear-facing car seat) and always point you to the manufacturer and your pediatrician.
Does it work with any store?
Yes. Paste a product link from any store with an optional price and note. NestReady never scrapes stores and has no affiliate links in your list.
